Sel et Poivre

Had an appointment on 64th and Park Avenue and finished with enough time to run over to Lex to see if I could find a little something to eat. Nothing fancy and fast. Saw a little restaurant across the street that I had seen many times over the years. It looked cute and French and bistro style. It was not busy, not a good sign, but today was the day after the storm and the city and the traffic were on the quieter side, so I gave it the benefit of the doubt. It looked like old NY before everything became CVS and chain restaurants. The fast bite ended up being an endive apple and Roquefort salad and half roast chicken with fries. The salad was very good and fresh and crisp. I got excited that maybe I hit a home run. Then the chicken arrived, and it too looked very good. That is where it ended. It was on the dry side and the aujus was tasteless. The fries were soggy and tasted like they had been refried. Service was good. I was in and out in about 45min. It served the purpose of feeding me. I don’t know if I would ever stop in again. The omelette at the next table looked good, but then again so did the chicken.
