Williamsburg is All Grown Up and The William Vale is Leading the Way

Had a dinner for 7 (will get to that at a later time) scheduled in Williamsburg for last night, so we decided to come in and stay at the William Vale. We had been to this hotel about a year plus ago, during the summer, just for drinks and tapas. They have a magnificent roof top wrap terrace which gives you unobstructed 360° views 22 floors up. Everything else around here is quite low. They also have an extremely happening bar with a very mixed cool crowd. The place was packed. You need reservations. Because we were guests of the hotel they did a little moving and shaking for us. We had a perfect table and the staff is extremely attentive. The vodka and grapefruit juice was great. The juice was fresh. The only problem was that the bartender ran out of grapefruit juice after we each had one drink. It didn’t matter because the food was incredible. We had four plates of tapas, each better than the next. The tuna was served in a tiny pastry cup on a bed of toasted coconut. There was a take on hummus made out of beet root. A dreamy cauliflower something and tiny delicate eggplant dumpling that burst in your mouth with sweet and spice. The bread served came out hot and fresh and drizzled with oil. It was a delightful hour and a half interlude before we went down to our room. The room has everything you need and they are perfect for a short stay, only because of their size. They are tiny but very well appointed, and the substantial terrace makes the room feel larger. A small but very well thought out and beautifully done bathroom. Robe or towel hooks inserted into the glass shower wall. So smart. I love hooks. The bed is so comfortable that I am still in it. We were able to make the room nice and cold and dark. The closet space is decent but the closet design is fabulous. And there is a small chaise in front of the glass doors. It works. The hotel itself has a great vibe....the doormen, the front desk, the bellmen, the porters....really everyone who works here has a smile and they are on their game. When we got back here that night at midnight, there was a line of people waiting to get up to the rooftop. Need reservations!! There is great art all over the hotel. The common spaces are especially beautiful. The hallways on each floor and the lighting is so unusual that I have never seen a hotel set up like this, and I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels. As my husband would say “winner winner chicken dinner”.
